Libraries will be part of the London 2012 volunteer programme, Games Maker. A programme which is set to be the largest post-war volunteer recruitment campaign in the UK looking for up to 70,000 dedicated and inspirational volunteers representative of the diversity of London and the UK for a wide variety of roles.

MLA pledge a smooth transition

Responding to the announcement that the MLA is to be wound up by April 2012, Sir Andrew Motion and Roy Clare pledge a smooth and orderly transition to deliver the best possible future for museums, libraries and archives across England and for the communities who expect to use them.

Following the decision to wind up the MLA by April 2012, as part of the government’s review of NDPBs (Non Departmental Public Bodies) the MLA has reaffirmed its commitment to work for a smooth transition.
