working regionally

Regional field team
The MLA has nearly completed its restructure. A new integrated national and regional team has replaced eight of the nine regional MLA's, and MLA London will join the single MLA by March 2010. We have appointed three Area Directors of Engagement, based in the English regions, but with a place on our executive management team.
Area Director North (Keith Bartlett) is responsible for regional managers and staff in the North East, North West and Yorkshire. Area Director East (Sam Bestwick) is in charge of regional managers and staff in the East Midlands, East of England, and South East. Area Director West (Jon Finch) looks after regional managers and staff in West Midlands and South West.
All regional staff have a key responsiblity to work closely with local government on the development of museums, libraries and archives in their areas, and more widely on integrating the cultural and sporting agenda to ensure our sector builds communites, helping inspire learning and regeneration.
MLA London is the strategic development agency for museums, libraries and archives in London, supporting and promoting the sector.
