Local government runs public libraries and local archives, and own or fund many local museums.
A key function for the MLA's integrated regional team is to ensure that, on behalf of goverment, and in partnership with other government agencies (Arts Council, English Heritage, Sport England) we work in a coherent way to support and help elected local authoties work strategically in their regions to deliver strategic sport and cultural strategies.
Nationally we work with the representatives of local government, particularly through its membership body the Local Government Association, to help join-up thinking across government.
