Ahead of its centenary next year Manningham Library has even more to celebrate with its re-opening following a massive refurbishment.
Thanks to a £1.5m Big Lottery Fund grant the library has had a makeover and been extended to create a more family friendly space.
The building can now host art exhibitions and events and includes a meeting room and tranquil community garden.
Among other features are a new self-service issue system, daily newspapers, Asian language books, council information, free internet access and Wi-Fi zone.
In total 58 libraries across England will receive a share of £80m, as part of the Community Libraries programme, thanks to a joint partnership between the Fund and the MLA.
Coun Anne Hawksworth, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Environment and Culture said: “Manningham Library is something that the local community can be really proud of and enjoy using. We have worked closely with local people and the new library will hopefully encourage more use.”
