The outstanding achievements of West Midlands adult learners, and the contribution made by museums, libraries and archives to their studies, have been recognised at an awards ceremony.
Jon Finch the MLA’s Director of Engagement presented the Adult Learners’ Week Award to Jane Street for both her personal learning achievements and the support she gives students and co-trainers in the Prison Officer Entry Level Training department.
The group award went to the Crossing the Bridge project. The project, supported by mental health charity Rethink, brings together people from a variety of backgrounds to find a common need to learn and be independent.
The award ceremony at the RAF Museum, in Shropshire, was hosted by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Learning.
Jon Finch praised the winners and said: “The MLA is pleased to support the awards as we believe that museums, libraries and archives have a huge role to play in adult learning.
“I think this has been reflected in the Learning Revolution, the Government’s White Paper, which emphasises how important the sector is to informal learning amongst adults.”
