Local Area Agreements

Local Area Agreements (LAAs) are three year agreements between a local area, led by the local authority through the Local Strategic Partnership, and central government. More information about LAAs can be found on the IDeA website.

LAAs are means by which museums, libraries and archives can deliver outcomes for local communities. Through them our sector can broker new partnerships and access new resources that help them deliver against the four LAA blocks which are used to categorise the agreements targets and outcomes:

  • Children and Young People
  • Healthier Communities and Older People
  • Safer and Stronger Communities
  • Economic Development and Enterprise

MLA has produced the following documents which outline some of the ways in which museums, libraries and archives can contribute to LAAs.
