The museums, libraries and archives sectors are crucial in supporting and nurturing creativity and the creative economy. In 2006 MLA commissioned the report Knowledge and Inspiration: the Democratic face of culture (PDF 1.6MB).

MLA supports the DCMS Creative Economy Programme, which was launched in November 2005, with the Creative Economy Green Paper due to be published in June 2007.
