Museums, libraries and archives have a vital role to play in promoting community cohesion and identity, stimulating regeneration and enhancing quality of life.

MLA promotes service development that is inclusive and leads development of policy demonstrating the contribution that museums, libraries and archives make to social policy.

MLA's Access for All self-assessment toolkit enables museums, libraries and archives to identify and remove barriers to access and develop inclusive
services and activities.

Policy and Advocacy

MLA's New Directions in Social Policy (Word 231KB) focuses on the relevance of museums, libraries and archives to:

New Directions is a crucial plank in MLA's advocacy work and has produced a review of evidence of the impact of the sector on key social policy themes.

Diversity is central to the New Directions programme.
