School-Aged Children Museums, libraries and archives offer inspirational learning opportunities to everyone, and they have a long and successful history of working with schools, teachers and school-age children. MLA encourages museums, libraries and archives to develop a broad range of learning experiences for school-aged children with national programmes, advocacy and by developing strategic partnerships: Literature Matters Final Report (Word 1.12 MB) The sector has a valuable contribution to make to school-aged children and offers a wide diversity of engagement. Class visits, virtual learning environments, loans collections specifically developed for use in the classroom and professional development opportunities for teachers all support and enrich teaching. Public libraries, Schools Library Services and libraries within schools provide a range of learning support materials - not just books -and flexible and supportive learning environments to support learning throughout the school day and beyond. Out of school hours, museums, libraries and archives offer flexible opportunities for children to continue learning through homework clubs in public libraries and a wealth of events and activities in museums and archives. Through all this, museums, libraries and archives make a valuable contribution to delivering the five outcomes identified in the government's Every Child Matters initiative: - Being healthy
