Workforce research

Following the publication of the Workforce Development Strategy, MLA has commissioned several pieces of research to inform future policy making.

2005 saw the second stage of the ongoing study of volunteers in the Cultural Sector and a survey of the barriers encountered by young BME people in entering the sector.

To measure the impact of the workforce development strategy MLA will conduct a survey into employer engagement with workforce development in 2007.

Two Regional Agencies, MLA South East and MLA West Midlands, piloted a schema for mapping the demographic make up of the workforce in 2005, on behalf of the MLA Partnership. This work has now been transferred to the Sector Skills Council for use in developing a methodology to a demographic profile of their sectors.
