The Impact of the Scheme

Once the project to develop the Registration Scheme had begun, MLA judged that it would be both important and timely to consider the impact which the Scheme had had upon museums to date. In 2001 therefore, MLA carried out a study to assess The Impact of the Registration Scheme. Museums were asked to identify the benefits which they have experienced as a result of taking part in the Registration Scheme, and those benefits which they consider that museums in general have experienced. In a separate and parallel study, the Area Museum Councils (the precursors of the regional agencies) were also asked for their views.
