Digital Preservation Coalition

The aim of the  Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is to secure the preservation of digital resources in the UK and to work with other organisations internationally to secure global digital memory and knowledge base.  MLA is a founding member of the coalition.

Chris Batt, MLA's Chief Executive, is a member of the DPC board.  MLA works in cooperation with other members of the coalition in disseminating information on current research and practice in its sector, in striving to get digital preservation on the agenda of key stakeholders, and in lobbying for appropriate and adequate funding to secure the nation's investment in digital resources and ensure an enduring global digital memory.

MLA's support for the coalition underlines the importance that we place on the coordination of policies for the management and development of the collections that define the uniqueness of our sector.  Working with the coalition is one part of MLA'sprogramme to create more effective policies for those collections.

A priority of the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) in recent years has been to establish the extent of digital preservation needs in the UK.
