ArticleFirst is OCLC's unique index of articles from the contents pages of journals. As a complement to WorldCat through the FirstSearch interface, ArticleFirst provides advanced access that allows users to identify and locate vital information required on any given topic with options to go further and obtain that crucial piece of knowledge.

It includes items listed on the table of contents pages from over 16,000 sources. Describing one article, news story, letter, or other item from a journal in each record ArticleFirst also provides holdings information, listing libraries that have the journal title available.

The subject areas included are business, science, humanities, social science, medicine, technology and popular culture. The number of records within the database now total over 15.5 million and cover the dates from 1990 to the present with daily updates.
