Performance Management in public libraries

MLA has published a set of tools to help museums, libraries and archives to make a greater contribution to communities through effective performance management and appropriate improvement support.  From April 2008, these replace the Public Library Service Standards.

These tools, including the Library Benchmark, are available here. 

The tools were designed following a review of the Public Library Service Standards and in response to the new requirements of the Local Authority performance framework.

The Local Government White Paper, "Strong and Prosperous Communities", which proposed new legislation to give people a real say on priorities for investment and the kind of services they will have in the future, can be found on the department of Communities and Local Government website.
