Moving to museum trusts: learning from experience This report was published by Renaissance in 2006. It finds that becoming a trust "in itself is no guarantee of better governance or management". It provides an evaluation along with the strengths and weaknesses of trust governance, how it applies in different circumstances, and the financial, legal and operational implications in the short and long term. Moving to Trust Status Report - Part 2 (PDF 1MB)
The report was commissioned to EGERIA by the MLA Council through the Renaissance programme. It focuses on museums that have been ‘devolved’ by local authorities. EGERIA, in association with Farrer & Co, were informed by an expert panel. The panel comprised of representatives from MLA, Local Government Association, Museums Association, and organisations that have experience of moving from or into Trust and non-Trust status. Worthwhile Partnerships: a regional perspective This report was published in 2006 by Renaissance West Midlands with support from the National Museums Directors Conference and the MLA Partnership. It is the result of extensive consultation and reflects the views of a wide range of regional museums. Partnership working between national and regional museums has become increasingly significant in recent years, and seems set to become more so in future. The report argues for a strategic perspective that can balance national aims with regional needs. Worthwhile Partnerships Leaflet (PDF 456KB)
