Designated collections in the North West

In the North West the following museums hold Designated Collections:

  • Manchester City Galleries: City Art Gallery, Platt Hall: Gallery of Costume, Wythenshawe Hall and Heaton Hall
  • Manchester Museum, University of Manchester
  • Whitworth Art Gallery, University of Manchester

The Renaissance Designation Challenege Fund (DCF) has provided funding for a number of designated collections held by museums. You can find out more in the DCF section.

Support for all museums in the North West

The Renaissance Museum Development Fund (MDF) provides funding to MLA regional agencies to offer advice and support to non-hub museums in their region. The advice and support offered varies in each region. The North West hub and MLA North West have worked together to produce a statement of the support available to museums in the region.
