Designated collections in the West Midlands

In the West Midlands the following museums hold Designated Collections:

Designated Collections held by Hub museums:

  • Birmingham Museums & Heritage: City Museum & Art Gallery, Aston Hall, Blakesley Hall, Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, Sarehole Mill and Soho House.
  • Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust: Coalbrookedale: Museum of Iron & Darby Furnace, Blists Hill Open Air Museum, Coalport China Museum, Jackfield Tile Museum, Broseley Pipeworks and Darby Houses.
  • Stoke-On-Trent Museum Service: Potteries Museum, Etruria Industrial Museum, Ford Green Hall and Gladstone Pottery Museum.

The Renaissance Designation Challenege Fund (DCF) has provided funding for a number of designated collections held by museums. You can find out more in the DCF section.

Support for all museums in the West Midlands

The Renaissance Museum Development Fund (MDF) provides funding to MLA regional agencies to offer advice and support to non-hub museums in their region. The advice and support offered varies in each region. The West Midlands hub and MLA West Midlands have worked together to produce a statement of the support available to museums in the region.
