Archives in action

The National Archives and the Museums Libraries & Archives Council (MLA) held a series of workshops for culture and archives colleagues called 'Archives for 21st Century in your region' in York, Birmingham and at Kew in June and July 2010.

Exploring how we can work together on 'Archives in 21st Century' and the challenges we are facing in the archive sector to turn the policy into a reality for local services was part of our discussion on 'developing bigger, better and more sustainable services'. Presentations by guest speakers opened up debate between staff and delegates on how we can develop governance and strategic partnerships to deliver core services.

Tell us what you think

Please fill in the post event feedback form and email it to asd@nationalarchives.gsi.gov.uk to tell us more about you and your service, and what you found useful on the day. It'll only take a few minutes and will make all the difference to the development of our plans for engaging with the sector in the future.

The National Archives has assumed responsibility for providing strategic leadership to the archives sector and advising government on its development. The MLA is now winding down, with a skeleton staff remaining until May 2012 to complete the management of existing Renaissance contracts, complete outstanding financial and contractual arrangements and prepare for the appointment of a liquidator. This website will remain live until 31st March so that the public still has full access to the material on it – good practice case studies, toolkits, guidance and a range of other publications.  Continue reading
