Teaching Outside the Classroom
The Teaching Outside the Classroom programme was launched the Children's Minister, Kevin Brennan, on 4 March 2008. It encourages providers of teacher training to offer their students placements in a diverse range of educational settings, such as museums and galleries.
The placements complement existing teaching practice in schools, developing teachers' knowledge and skills about how to work wtih partners to bring teaching outside the classroom.
The Teaching Outside the Classroom programme has been developed by the following partners:
- Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA)
- Creativity, Culture and Education (CCE)
- The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom
- Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA)
