East Midlands Museum Partnership

Renaissance East Midlands works strategically with the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council and the East Midlands Museums Service as the East Midlands Museums Partnership (EMMP).

EMMP’s strategic objectives are to:

  • promote the place of museums at the heart of our communities
  • enable museums to develop and engage with a wider audience
  • enable museums to reflect our changing society and its aspirations
  • aspire to achieve sector excellence
  • capture, care for & celebrate our cultural and scientific heritage
  • enable the sector to become stronger and more sustainable

East Midlands Museums Service (EmmS) is the support network for museums in the East Midlands region. EmmS provides the voice of museums in the East Midlands and encourages participation by everyone delivering museum services in a genuine network supporting their needs. It also encourages strong advocacy for excellence in museum provision and collections care in the region, and increased use and public enjoyment of museums.

The National Archives has assumed responsibility for providing strategic leadership to the archives sector and advising government on its development. The MLA is now winding down, with a skeleton staff remaining until May 2012 to complete the management of existing Renaissance contracts, complete outstanding financial and contractual arrangements and prepare for the appointment of a liquidator. This website will remain live until 31st March so that the public still has full access to the material on it – good practice case studies, toolkits, guidance and a range of other publications.  Continue reading
