Collections management

MLA supports or contributes to a variety of initiatives to provide comprehensive advice and information for everyone involved in developing and managing collections.

Collections Link, managed by Collections Trust in partnership with the Institute of Conservation and National Preservation Office and funded through the Renaissance programme, was launched to offer fast, easy access to current best practice in professional collections management.

Security

The MLA's National Security Adviser has specialist knowledge and experience of security issues relating to museums, galleries, archives and libraries. It is important to regularly consider emerging trends and assess risks and take steps to reduce them.

Guidelines and factsheets on security issues are available on the Collections Link website. Security Guidelines which apply to items to be loaned under the Government Indemnity Scheme can be found at the GIS section of the website

For further information please contact the National Security Adviser on 0121 345 7311 or email NationalSecurityAdviser@mla.gov.uk
