Gillian tells Julie through an interpreter about the Women's Health Group for deaf women.

Julie:
Gillian I've heard you run a deaf women's health group.
Gillian:
Yes, we do have a group of ladies that come and it's on a Saturday once a month. It is 10 'til 1 o'clock in the morning, what we do is book guest speakers and we talk about health topics for example, cancer. At the weekend, the topic was yoga and it is different things like that. Also regularly, we have 10 to 12 deaf women who come to the groups and obviously can access the health information there. It is very difficult to access ordinarily so when they come to the deaf women's health group they can learn from that and also have an interpreter who changes this to BSL. Most of the speakers are hearing but sometimes we have had deaf speakers. It depends on the qualification or the experience of the speaker. For example, on Saturday, the lady who came was talking about yoga, she is hearing herself but she can use sign language because she was a teacher of the deaf. So she could sign and we didn't actually need nor have use of the interpreter.

Well you should come Julie, this is the 'Women in the Northeast' it is room number 1 upstairs here. It is at 10 to 1 o'clock in the morning.
